Normajean – Corner Hotel, 8th June 2007
So this time when they were out I wasn’t as excited about seeing them live as I was last time. But, I was still going to attend one of their shows. I was definatly less excited after my brother was not allowed into the unders gig (I got into it last time, and so did at least one other overs dude that I know of – and that is not allowed according to the hotel guys).
A Sercret Death were different. A good different. Nice music and a decent performance. I enjoyed their set, their sound. I did not get a CD, but they were definatly worth having a look into.
Every Time I Die played too.
Normajean’s set opened with brilliantly composed video, and they flew into ‘A Grand Scene For A Color Film’. What followed after was a brilliant set. Tight musically, loud and solid. From their cd’s I can think of no other way to see them live than what they did.
Only two songs from Bless the Martyr, Kiss the Child. The Shotgun Message and Memphis will be Laid to Waste. Both of those went down very well with the crowd. But I was more impressed with their later stuff. While I love Bless the Martyr, I really enjoy the two CD’s after that, the production and the progression in the song writing is beautiful.
Over all it was a great set. I loved that they came back again, and enjoyed their set. And while it was great, nothing stands out at totally memorable. Last time when they came, Roger and I got their early enough on the first night to hear them sound test Liarsenic (which they did not play), and hear them live for the first time ever – that I remember. Nothing stand out this time, but they were great live.
